Sneaker Requirement for ALL grades!
Safety is the top concern as a physical educator. With this in mind, all students are required to wear sneakers in order to participate in physical education class. There are many types of excellent and inexpensive sneakers available. Please choose an athletic sneaker designed for physical activity both for indoors and outdoors. The traditional lace up athletic sneaker provides best support for children. Sneakers labeled as basketball or cross training are preferred. Velcro sneakers are acceptable as well!
Heels, boots, sandals, high platform sneakers, crocs or any other shoe not appropriate for physical activity are not permitted in the gym and those students will not be able to participate during class. Even though a shoe may be fashionable, without the proper support it could cause injury. Many of these shoes provide lateral instability which results in lower leg and ankle injuries. During the snowy and wet months please have your child bring sneakers in a bag with them to school to change into if you want them wearing rain or snow boots while coming to school.
I am sure that everyone is equally concerned about preventing unnecessary accidents. Thank you for your time and cooperation.
